General]
So, I have an embarrassing story to tell. Back in 2000, when I was just a naive 18 years old. I called, "Miss Cleo's Psychic Hotline" (back when it was still on air) -- just for shits and giggles. One of those, "cross off my list" sort of things.
An African-American woman answered the phone (without an Jamaican accent) and started reading from what sounded like a generic greeting and introduction. Then she asked me my first name, and birth date. While telling her this, I became aware of a sound coming from her side of the phone. Not the sound of shuffling tarot cards, but the distinct sound of computer key typing. I'm thinking, "This is all automated? Geezus, she at least could have used some creativity."
In the long run, all she told me was rubbish (obviously). If what she said was true, I would have been married with multiple children now and also the head of some corporate office (quite a time juggle).
It turns out Miss Cleo isn't even Jamaican at all. She was born in L.A. to American parents. But it keeps getting better and better ... read her profile. Not only has it been made public that she was a fake and completely discredited, she is now a spiritual advisor! O'ly Crap!
Oh well, you live and learn ... and pay the $110 phone bill for your 'psychic enlightenment'.
